«Journal of Siberian Medical Sciences» is a successor of "Medicine and Education in Siberia" online media. The online scientific publication "Medicine and Education in Siberia" was framed in 2006, since 2007 – releases were placed on the elibrary.ru platform and were considered in the system of the Russian Index of Scientific Citing (RISC). Scientific articles in the directions were published in the edition: pedagogical sciences (13.00.00) and medical sciences and pharmaceutical sciences (14.00.00)‏. Among authors of the online scientific publication there are scientists from the different cities of Russia, Ukraine, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan and Germany. From June, 2011 to November, 2015 the online media was included into "The list of the Russian reviewed scientific magazines in which the main scientific results of theses on a competition of academic degrees of the doctor and candidate of science have to be published" (the List of VAK), in May, 2017 – is again included in this list.

In 2017 the online media is transformed to the printing edition "Journal of Siberian Medical Sciences" (ISSN 2542-1174) — in Russian and English. Certificate on media: PI No. ФС 77-69793. Frequency makes 4 numbers a year (1 time in 3 months).
